[. the two 'F' words - fear & faith .]

The feeling of uncertainty, feeling unsafe, and not being able to foresee the future makes us fear. I will be on vacation soon and I am worrying about so many things. I worry about the weather condition at home - hoping that there won't be crazy freezing snow storms & hoping my dad, sister, aunt & boyfriend will all be safe. I worry about being on the plane, in a different continent, in a different environment - accidents can happen =(. I fear.

How do we cope with fears in our lives?
For me, i like to read and meditate on quotes because i find a wealth of knowledge and truth from them. So here are some quotes I found relating to the topic of fear.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a time to take counsel of your fears, and there is a time to never listen to any fear. ~George S. Patton

Many of our fears are tissue-paper-thin, and a single courageous step would carry us clear through them. ~Brendan Francis

Fear is faith that it won't work out. ~Sister Mary Tricky

To fear is one thing. To let fear grab you by the tail and swing you around is another. ~Katherine Paterson, Jacob Have I Loved

To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom. ~Bertrand Russell

Who is more foolish, the child afraid of the dark or the man afraid of the light? ~Maurice Freehill

He who fears something gives it power over him. ~Moorish Proverb

Feed your faith and your fears will starve to death. ~Author Unknown

Although the quotes above gives me insight, this one here brings the most comfort when I am afraid. There is something that resonates with this passage. Makes me feel that God knows my fears, He's here to share the burden, He will be with me and guide me. (at least i hope so!)

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
