[. randoms + a lil nature .]

so an update from last post
1) NO strike @ York!!! (...for now anyway...)
2) physical disability simulation: the computer lab actually consists of high-tech gagets (e.g. machines that you scan a page of words n it reads it out to you) that is soooo cool... but part of my point still is... the lab shouldn't be at the end/back of the room

so what's NEW?
nothing really, but i'll ramble neway and try to make my life sound a little more interesting

` had 2 exams - crammed like crazy for one of them
` need to kick into a big essay due next week
` sat. school isn't too bad - math class is going okay so far, but i need to spice things up a little... and kids fellowship is going okay as well, just need to learn how to control kids' energy more efficiently

(omg... totally off topic, but speaking of controling kids... learned form my abnormal psych textbook a very interesting or can be a rather disturbing fact. Did yoU knoW....... that one of the purpose of Graham crackers and Kellogg's corn flakes were to surpress the sexuality in kids?? "The Reverend Sylvester Graham and Dr. John Harvey Kellogg published treatises declaring that masturbation caused numerous problems including lassitude, dullness, defective development, untrustworthiness, and even ill health and round shoulders. Parents were warned to watch for these signs and prevent the destructive behaviour at all costs. Excessive sexuality could be counteracted by healthy activities and a diet of bland foods. Graham developed Graham crackers and Kellogg developed corn flakes to meet the need for such foods." [Firestone & Marshall, p.282] incredible...... i really wonder what would have happened if we didn't have these crackers & cereals...... perhaps i should feed my fellowship kids these type of food and see if it can help w/lowering their energy levels... .... nahhh)

` heard that i'm in a picture posted on the front door of one of the libraries at york (learned my lesson to not take pictures with a blue dragon wearing a "kiss the cook" apron lol)
` Kairos Fellowship was pretty interesting, watched 2 videos. One about a boy with bipolar disorder and how members of this youth group got to know him and became good friends with him. Second video was made by Morgan Spurlock (sorry, not Michael Moore!!). Topic: homosexuality. A heterosexual man went to live with a homosexual man for 30 days to be educated about the homosexual community. A very good video for a different perspective, highly recommend it!

` saw the cutest yet disappointing thing today after the abominable abnormal psych exam. so i was walking to the bus stop w/my 2 study group partners. so we walked out of the vari hall building and into this (i dunno how to explain it) outdoor-like-tunnel with glass doors and stuff. well, this "outdoor tunnel's" doors are removed in the spring n summer so air and leaves and birds can easily fly through... but in the fall the winter time, the doors are reinstalled. so, as the 3 of us were walking. i noticed a cute little squirrel just outside one of the doors. and it was headed towards the tunnel. at the time it reached the door... someone opened it to walk outside and the squirrel came into the tunnel. it keep crawling forward headed to the opposite glass door... so basically crossing the tunnel. it was really interesting watching it... cuz ppl walked around it... and this one guy opened the opposite door to let the squirrel out of the tunnel. i just found it so considerate for the guy to open the door for the squirrel. it's basically like openning the door for another person, except a squirrel. something else that was interesting was that the squirrel had snatched something in it's mouth. and unfortunately it looked like a piece of newspaper. *shrug* of all things i would have thought it to be some type of food. perhaps it uses it as insulation for the winter lol... or maybe just a little fetish... who knows.
but what disappointed me was the fact that these infrastructures... built to keep humans warm on cold days... can create barriers for nature. if the two doors were not opened for the squirrel to cross the tunnel... it would have to find another route. that can be so inconvenient for it. or if one was opened and the other was not... it would have been stuck in the tunnel and probably stepped on or scared to death. either way, just thought that was a very cute moment - of a human stopping to help an animal cross a man-made barrier.

okay, time's up
i'm out
hava great day~

Who doesn't love animals? You don't respect animals, you don't get my respect. How you treat a helpless creature shows a lot for your character, especially if you are the on intruding on their territory.
