it's been almost 4 months into helping out with this little junior fellowship at the chinese & math school i teach at. and to be honest, i enjoy the jr. fellowship than teaching math!!!! hahaha... i guess it's becuz i have more freedom in what i want to do with the kids and i don't have to be as strict.
in the past two saturdays we looked at the 9 fruits of the Spirit. i followed this book in representing each fruit of the Spirit by using a different fruit to help the kids remember the 9 characteristics.
Love - strawberry
(cuz of the shape n colour)
Joy - a slice of orange
(cuz it's shaped like a smile)
Peace - grapes
(mann... i swear they used grapes cuz orange was taken. thinking of "world peace", the world is somewhat similar to the shape of a grape)
Patience - banana
(cuz u need to wait for it to change from green to yellow b4 u eat it)
Kindness - pear
(cuz pear trees r so kind in producing fruits each year. it's the thought that counts )
Goodness - apples
(cuz they r just soooo good n delicious)
Faithfulness - starfruit
(cuz God kept his promise to us by sending his Son to live with us. that bright star on the night of Jesus' birth.)
Gentelness - kiwi
(cuz they r soft on the inside)
Self-control - cherry
(cuz they r delicious as well. can't eat tooooo much!)
being a helper for this junior fellowship help me to review things that i learned in sunday school wayyyyy back when i was a lil kid. like, the fruits of the Spirit, i realized that i have forgotten most of these attributes which r soooooo essential in our everyday living. it's a great blessing for me to learn them again through teaching it to the kids. it helps me to become more aware cuz i shared some stories to apply the attributes. (now i somewhat understand why Jesus used parables... it really helps getting the message across). we made magnets for each fruit today. i hope the kids will bring the magents home n stick them on their refrigerators!
here r a few pics of the kids!
